Statement by Earthworks senior manager for state legislative and regulatory affairs Andrew Forkes Gudmundson :
“New Mexico has given Governor Lujan Grisham a second term, and the people living on the frontlines of extraction need her administration to keep fighting harmful pollution and environmental injustice. New Mexicans will continue to oppose false solutions and advocate for a transition toward a more prosperous and renewable energy future. The Governor must also remember her duty toward Indigenous communities and their demand for equity and justice.
“New Mexico’s leadership in cutting methane pollution won’t help communities and the climate without significant investments in monitoring and enforcement. As she pivots to her second term, we look to Governor Lujan Grisham to ensure that the state’s climate action actually supports frontline communities calling for a just transition away from oil and gas.”
