What We Do

Earthwork strives to dismantle systems of injustice and oppression on the way toward a clean energy, responsibly resourced, more democratic and equitable future for all.

Tailings

Fighting Mining Injustice

Mining should be the last resort to meet demand for minerals, not the first. We stand with impacted communities demanding that mining only occurs with their consent, prevent environmental injustice, and strengthen the human rights, environmental, and health protections by which mining is governed.

Ending Oil & Gas Expansion

We support and amplify local campaigns to stop the oil and gas industry from locking in a future of fossil fuels that threatens to worsen the climate crisis and to expand its harms to people already disproportionately impacted by pollution—particularly historically marginalized Black and Brown communities along the Gulf of Mexico.

Protecting Climate from Oil & Gas Methane Pollution

Earthworks uses optical gas imaging technology to expose oil & gas pollution otherwise invisible to the naked eye in order to hold companies accountable for their emissions.

Making Clean Energy Clean, Just and Equitable

We advocate for the emerging renewable energy economy to move toward mineral recycling and reuse, and demand reduction to avoid irresponsible and unjust mining practices.

Where We Work

We partner with communities on the frontlines in the US and around the world experiencing the impacts of oil, gas, and mining operations to hold polluters accountable. We advance policy solutions that reduce methane emissions to slow climate change, while transitioning to a clean energy transition that doesn’t rely on dirty mining or harm communities.
