Presentation at the 2005 People’s Oil and Gas Summit: Toxics in Our Communities
This presentation outlines some basic concepts such as risk perception, risk assessment and risk communication, and why those concepts are important when trying to determine the impact of an industry such as oil gas on human health (both at the individual and community level). The presentation also provides information on a health study that will take place in Garfield County, Colorado, in 2005, 2006. The study is being funded through a fine that EnCana paid to the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for contaminating a Garfield County creek with benzene during the company's gas drilling operations.
