What: Hundreds will march from Houston’s Root Square Park to CERAWeek venue the George R. Brown Convention Center. The march and powerful visual protest begins with a press conference featuring environmental justice advocates and community members impacted by the fossil fuel industry, and will feature music by award-winning local band The Free Radicals.

When: March 10, 2025, 11:30 AM CST

Where: Root Square Park in downtown Houston, less than a 10-minute walk from the CERAWeek venue. Press conference will be livestreamed here: https://www.facebook.com/texasenvironment

Why: CERAWeek features the world’s biggest polluters and climate villains – including the CEOs of Shell, BP, Exxon, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and more. For too long, these companies have treated Gulf South communities, and communities of color and low-income communities around the world, like “sacrifice zones.” They poison communities’ air and water, increasing their risk of serious health conditions like asthma and cancers, and fuel the climate crisis’s devastating hurricanes, fires, and floods. Community members – who have been barred from attending CERAWeek itself – will gather to demand a future where everyone can thrive with clean air, clean water, good jobs, and a stable climate.

Who: The “March for Future Generations” includes a multi-generational group of community members from across the Gulf South impacted by fossil fuel, petrochemical, and other polluting industries, as well as a state, local, and national organizations in partnership with frontline communities around the Gulf South and Gulf Coast.
