“Today, the House of Representatives voted 180 to 249 to reduce local control over interstate gas pipelines, in favor of expanding the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
FERC is an unaccountable federal government entity that rubber stamps the taking of private property through eminent domain just so we can ship our energy resources overseas. Make no mistake, this bill demonstrates that the 115th Congress cares less about energy independence and more about giveaways to the fossil fuel industry.
HR 2910 will increase delays, as it stands in direct conflict with existing federal energy management laws. This overreaching law would create serious negative consequences for state and federal agencies wishing to protect their environment, natural resources, and the public from the impacts of interstate gas pipelines.”
