In 2024, Earthworks strengthened its role as a leading advocate for communities and ecosystems affected by mineral and energy development. Guided by its mission to protect public health, defend Indigenous rights, and advance responsible climate solutions, the organization achieved significant policy, advocacy, and campaign victories both domestically and internationally.
Key accomplishments included helping secure the rejection of Alaska’s proposed Ambler Road project, advancing stronger health protections from oil and gas development in Pennsylvania, influencing global recommendations on critical energy transition minerals through the United Nations, and supporting efforts to pause new LNG export approvals. Earthworks also advanced solutions for a more sustainable transportation future, emphasizing battery recycling, smaller vehicles, and expanded public transit as pathways to reduce the environmental impacts of electric-vehicle production.
The organization continued to expose methane pollution through investigative work in Colombia, launched new resources to combat misinformation from the oil and gas industry, and partnered with frontline communities and Indigenous leaders to defend sacred lands, clean water, and public health.
Supported by more than $9.6 million in revenue and a broad network of donors, foundations, advocates, and community partners, Earthworks remained firmly committed to building people power, securing corporate accountability, and advancing a healthier, more just, and sustainable future for all.
