Presentation at the 2005 People’s Oil and Gas Summit: Toxics in Our Communities

This presentation by Laura Amos tells a story of contamination of her family's water well.  The timing of the contamination was coincident with the hydraulic fracturing of several gas wells near the Amos home.  Years later, Laura developed a rare adrenal disorder.  One of the chemicals used during the hydraulic fracturing operations is known to cause adrenal tumors. Laura relates her struggle to find out the truth about what happened to her water, and whether or not it is related to her health problems.  She also discusses how her public questioning of industry practices has inspired others to come forward with their stories of illnesses that may be linked to natural gas development in her region.
