Statement by Earthworks senior manager for state legislative and regulatory affairs Andrew Forkes-Gudmundson:
“The people of Colorado have given Governor Polis another term, and the people living on the frontlines of extraction demand that he use it to fulfill promises left unfilled in his first. Some incremental changes have been made to cut methane and health hazardous air pollution. But progress has come slowly in a state that still favors the oil and gas industry over communities. The climate crisis is four years closer while communities exposed to pollution have endured it four years longer.
“We congratulate the Governor on his second term and look forward to working with his administration and the State Legislature to waste no time in putting people, our environment, and our climate before polluters in Colorado.”
