“This shameful bill is an attack on efforts to achieve environmental justice and weakens our core environmental laws at the time we need them most–all to benefit fossil fuel and mining industries. It would lead to more extraction, less community input, less scrutiny of potential impacts, and less accountability when harm occurs,” said Earthworks Policy Director Lauren Pagel.

“The transition to clean energy cannot be built on irresponsible development that pollutes the water and fouls the air of nearby communities. Senator Schumer and the White House must take a hard stand against the exploitation of frontline communities, reform our mining policies, and end fossil fuel subsidies.”
