Statement by Earthworks Senior Manager for State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Andrew Forkes-Gudmundson:
“We believe a new era of true climate leadership may be before us with the election of Josh Shapiro as Governor of Pennsylvania. As Attorney General, the Governor-elect investigated and made recommendations to protect all Pennsylvanians from the harm fracking poses to public health and the environment. He should make it a top priority to enact those recommendations as Governor.
“But the Governor-elect should be selective in continuing policies of Governor Wolf. Community outrage will only grow should Harrisburg continue to give tax breaks and special treatment to big polluters. A true climate leader can protect health and safety while growing Pennsylvania to be strong and prosperous. In fact, it is the only way for our future to succeed.”
