Camila Ruiz Gallardo joined Earthworks in July of 2022 as Communications Director. Camila is a seasoned communications professional who helps lead teams in developing and implementing successful communications strategies at a variety of advocacy organizations.
Camila began her career as community organizer while attending college at San Jose State University. She moved from her native California to Washington, D.C. as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus fellow, later joining the staff of Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (retired), the first Hispanic female member of Congress. Following her experience on capitol hill, she went on to work for a decade as a Government Relations and Communications Director at the Cuban American National Foundation.
After relocating to Miami, Camila served as Marketing and Communications Director for Democracia USA, a Latino voter registration organization. When the organization was integrated into UnidosUS (then NCLR), the nation’s largest Latino civil rights organization, Camila joined the staff there serving in a variety of positions within the communications department over her nine year tenure. Her most recent position prior to joining Earthworks was as Communications Director at Mothers Out Front, a group that mobilizes moms around local, state and national climate initiatives.
Camila currently lives in Miami, Florida with her two amazing kids and their dog, Levi.
