Hanna Mitchell works to protect Texas communities from the harmful impacts of oil and gas extraction while imagining a just energy future. She leads Earthworks’s methane regulation advocacy in Texas as the TX Gulf Coast Policy Advocate.
Hanna started organizing after attending a summer training program with the Sierra Student Coalition over 15 years ago. Before joining Earthworks in September 2024, she worked for various campaigning, non-profit, and public interest organizations, including Greenpeace, NextGen America, and Solar United Neighbors, and started her own consulting company.
Hanna earned her B.A. in Environmental & Urban Studies from Bard College, focusing on Environmental Policy. Outside work, she volunteers for a local social justice campaign, runs on an Austin greenbelt, and spends time with her family.
