Anaïs Peterson

anaïs peterson (name//they/them) joined Earthworks in 2020 as the Stop the Buildout fellow and is now the Petrochemicals Campaigner. anaïs’s work at Earthworks focuses on delaying and defeating petrochemical and crude oil export facilities proposed for Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast and the proposed petrochemical buildout in the Ohio River Valley where anaïs has lived for the past 8 years.

Prior to joining Earthworks, anaïs worked extensively in the student fossil fuel divestment movement which included helping to coordinate Fossil Fuel Divestment Day in 2020 and organizing a 13-day occupation at the University of Pittsburgh. anaïs also has a background in training and political education as a sprog trainer with the Sierra Student Coalition.

anaïs holds a BA in Urban Studies and Creative Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. Outside of Earthworks anaïs publishes poetry and creative nonfiction and works for a zine and small publisher.
